Ivan Vasiliev

Ivan Vasiliev is a principal dancer with the Bolshoi Ballet. Born in Vladivostok, he graduated from the Belorussian Ballet School and won first prize at the Moscow International Ballet Competition in 2005. In 2006 he won the Grand Prix of the Varna International Ballet Competition and first prize at the Arabesque-96 Ballet Competition in Perm (where he also won the Korea Ballet Foundation Prize for Best Dancer) and joined the Bolshoi Ballet. He has won many prizes including the Soul of Dance prize in Ballet Magazine's "Rising Star" nomination 2007 and the Benois de la Danse prize in 2009. Vasiliev was promoted to the rank of principal with fellow dancer and fiancee Natalia Osipova after a performance of Don Quixote, the ballet he premiered with, in May 2010.

Ivan Vasiliev includes in his repertoire Basil (Don Quixote), the title role in Spartacus, Solor and the Golden Idol (La Bayadere), Conrad (Le Corsaire) Philippe (Flames of Paris), Acteon (La Esmeralda) and Misericordes.
